Biography

Dr. Kathleen Broad completed her undergraduate medical training at
Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia in 2011, psychiatry
residency at University of Toronto in 2016 and a fellowship in
Addiction Psychiatry at Yale University in 2017.

While in fellowship she developed a quality improvement project
examining trainees' experiences in an addiction psychiatry
telemedicine clinical elective. She presented the results of this
project at the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry 2017 Annual
Meeting. She has received numerous awards including the Best Oral
Presentation in Fellow Category, Connecticut-ASAM 6th Annual
Educational (2017); the Detweiler Travelling Fellowship, Royal College
of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (2017); the 2017 Ruth Fox
Scholarship from the American Society of Addiction Medicine (2017);
the International Society for Addiction Medicine Grant in Aid of
Travel (2017); and the American Academy of Addictions Psychiatry
Regional Travel Award – Region IX (2014).

She has an academic appointment as Adjunct Professor at the Schulich
School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University in London
Ontario. Her clinical interests are rural and remote addiction
psychiatry. She practices and teaches medical students at Stratford
General Hospital and at Choices for Change, a community addiction
clinic in Stratford Ontario. She is consultant psychiatrist with the
Northern Psychiatric Outreach Program at the Centre for Addiction and
Mental Health in Toronto Ontario. In this role she is provides
psychiatric care for the Baffin Island communities of Pangnirtung and
Qikiqtarjuak, Nunavut, and also supervises psychiatry residents in
this capacity.
