Biography

Dr. Balachandra completed medical school at University of Manitoba, psychiatry residency at University of Western Ontario, and a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at Yale University. He is board certified in psychiatry in both Canada and the United States. He is also board certified in the subspecialty of addiction psychiatry. He is currently an assistant clinical professor at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Areas of clinical interest include co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders. Based out of Alberta Hospital Edmonton, he is interested in developing services for those with co-occurring disorders. At the University of Alberta, he is dedicated to education of medical students, residents, and allied health professionals.
