Martin H. Plawecki, M.D., Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and earned doctorates in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University in 2005 and Medicine from Indiana University in 2007. He joined the faculty of the Indiana University Department of Psychiatry in 2012 after completing a residency in Psychiatry and fellowships in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychopharmacology. Dr. Plawecki has diverse interests spanning his training in both psychiatry and engineering. For over a decade, he has contributed to technical and applications development of the physiologically-based pharmacokinetic model for the distribution and elimination of alcohol which underlies breath alcohol concentration clamping and the Computer Assisted Alcohol Infusion System (CAIS). His primary research interests are in the phenotyping of those individuals with alcohol use disorders and translational methodology development with a goal of applying those techniques to the assessment of putative alcohol use disorder treatment agents.
