Randall Brown, M.D. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Population Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He continues in active practice in Madison, Wisconsin as a family physician at the Wingra Family Medical Center and as an addictionologist as the Co-Director of the AODA Consultation Service at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, as a staff physician with the NewStart Addiction Medicine Consultation Service at Meriter Hospital, and as the Director of Outreach and Prevention for the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin’s LifePoint needle exchange program. His ongoing research, funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and intramural funding through the University of Wisconsin, focuses upon services to substance dependent individuals in the criminal justice system.

He received his M.D. in 1996 from the University of Washington and 2 B.A. degrees (neurobiology and psychology) from Northwestern University in 1991. He completed residency in family medicine through the Stanislaus County Family Practice Residency in Modesto, California. He has completed additional training as a Faculty Development Fellow through the University of California, San Francisco; as a Research Fellow through a NIH T32 National Research Service Award at the University of Wisconsin; through the Clinical Investigator Preparatory Program at the University of Wisconsin; and through the Alcohol Medical Scholars Program. In addition to Board Certification in family medicine, he has been certified in Addiction Medicine through the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

Randy lives in Madison with his wife Jackie, their son Kincade, their daughter Jordan, and dogs Nika (German Short-haired Pointer) and Luna (miniature Dachsund).
