Dr. Asadi currently serves as Medical Director of the Opioid Treatment Program and Medical Review Officer at the Hines Veterans Administration in the near western suburbs of Chicago, IL. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Women’s Health and her medical degree at the University of Iowa. While in medical school, she received two international medicine awards that enabled her to study occupational medicine in Poland and obstetrics/gynecology in Costa Rica. She thereafter completed psychiatry residency at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO, and an addiction fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. As an assistant professor of psychiatry at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, she provides specialized training to medical students, residents from a variety of disciplines, and addiction fellows. Dr. Asadi is board certified in the addiction field by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and is also certified in academic medicine. She is Vice-Chair of the Women and Substance Use Disorders Work Group of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Dr. Asadi is also the sole author of a chapter for the book Opioid Use Disorders in Pregnancy, to be published by Cambridge University Press in January 2018.
